Hi, i’m robyn!

I am a local artist based in Canmore, Alberta in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.  The Balance Explore brand is inspired by my love of the outdoors and blends art and function.

My colourful designs merge classic natural elements with vibrant colours, creating a fresh take on the familiar. Exploring the mountains, lakes and river valleys inspires me to create images that reflect my passion for the outdoors. My functional art engages each individual with their own sense of adventure and connection with nature. Proud to be Canadian, products are sourced as close to home as possible, often partnering with local suppliers.

Travelling Canada coast to coast, and the world through 35 countries, has provided as much of a life education as my degree in Cultural Anthropology. On any given day you can find me hiking a mountain pass, climbing up a rock wall, practicing yoga beside the river, or cross-country skiing with friends. And you might just run into me biking around town or at a local café sipping tea.

Support Local

Being a small business, I am a big proponent of supporting local whenever possible, without compromising product quality.

All my images are hand drawn and then printed onto a host of different products. I source the printing of my products from my home town Canmore, and then work with suppliers in Calgary, Sylvan Lake, Edmonton, and Toronto.

All of my creations are made in Canada with the exception of my enamel mugs (hand stencilled and dipped by a mom and pop shop based in Poland)

Thinking Green

Living in such a beautiful mountain town makes me appreciate the environment so much! I try to make environmentally conscious choices like printing my cards, postcards and packaging cards on recycled paper.

When shipping I use re-purposed packaging cardboard, envelopes and paper to send all of my creations to their new homes.

I can always do better, and welcome any suggestions or insight on printing or packaging companies, and any other ideas around how to be more sustainable.

We only get one world to live in!
